Over the past few weeks, the 2010 HKS Premium Day and JCCA New Year Meeting events took place in Tokyo, Japan. Unfortunately we weren't able to attend, but thanks to the internet the photos have started appearing.

As mentioned in our previous blog, HKS did not make their presence felt at Tokyo Auto Salon and instead focussed on their now annual Premium Day at Fuji Speedway.
The day is a tuning spectacular and gives HKS the ability to show case their entire product line, new products and bring out their huge number of demonstration cars they have built over the years. There is even the opportunity to drive your own car around Fuji Speedway in a number of classes.
The R35 GTR tuner race was an interesting one from the Youtube videos, I'm sure HKS would've preferred their car to take the win. Instead the Esprit with Yamada took the win.
All of the top cars were covered and many that were at Tokyo Auto Salon were put through their paces on the Fuji track. As often the case, the best coverage comes from Speedhunters and Dino.

The JCCA New Year Meeting is an annual event for the Japan Classic Car Association and brings together Japanese owners from across the country to Tokyo for a huge meet up. Visitors to Tokyo would certainly recognise the Fuji TV HQ building sitting behind this Nissan Fairlady 240ZG.
I've followed the Japanese Nostalic Car website and blog for a few years now and the enthusiasm, knowledge and coverage of the Japanese nostalgic scene is second to none. They didn't disappoint with the coverage of the New Year Meeting either, check out their website for almost limitless Japanese automotive nostalgia.
Australian readers will be confused by this one, a Mazda Roadpacer built on a Holden HJ Premier chassis but running a Mazda 13B rotary generating only 135hp. Certainly wouldn't have been the fastest thing on the road and less than 1,000 sold.
Hopefully we'll make it to these events next year, something for everyone in the first few months of the year in Japan!
